Fundraising Appeal

Members, Patrons and Friends,

It is my great and sincere pleasure to be writing to you on behalf of Bermuda National Gallery’s 30th Anniversary Annual Appeal fundraising initiative, and to share with you why donating to BNG’s ongoing mission to promote the arts and deliver world-class art and culture experiences in the heart of Hamilton is more important than ever.

2022 saw BNG win the Best of Bermuda Award for the category of Best Museum, a reflection of both the past year’s efforts and those of the past 30 years. Since 1992, the Bermuda National Gallery has delivered over 115 exhibitions and accompanying community programmes and has welcomed over 400,000 visitors through our doors, all of which was made possible thanks to your donations and support.

This anniversary year has showcased this engagement across all aspects of the BNG and we couldn’t be prouder of what has been achieved. In the past year alone, we have activated the permanent collections, which now include over 700 artworks, through exhibitions speaking to Bermuda’s roots as well as international reach, alongside five dynamic and engaging curated exhibitions exploring relationships, portraiture, the environment, 2022 and the influence of abstraction. The donations received from the community over the past 30 years have created opportunities for our island’s artists, provided support and development for students of all ages, fostered dialogue through local and international speakers and made possible world-class exhibitions, reflecting the rich and diverse communities that are Bermuda.

Despite our successes, the nonprofit landscape is incredibly challenging, and increasingly more so for the arts. Every aspect of what we do is dependent upon our ability to raise the funds required. Hence, our capacity to adequately finance our operations, produce exhibitions and provide programming is critically impacted when we are not able to raise sufficient donations.

As we move forward, the Bermuda National Gallery continues to develop innovative exhibitions and programming for every member of your family. We are excited to see what the next 30 years brings, and  encourage you to continue your support of BNG through making a donation today.
