The Junior Bermuda Biennial is a partner exhibition to the Bermuda Biennial, the Bermuda National Gallery’s flagship exhibition, which has been running for over three decades.
The Junior Bermuda Biennial provides our youngest artists with a national platform and encourages them to push the boundaries of their creativity. It is a free, open submission, internationally juried exhibition which showcases Bermuda’s youngest artists (ages 5 to 17).
The 2026 Junior Bermuda Biennial will be juried by Molly Bretton, Director of Outside In (UK), who will select the artworks to be included in the exhibition.
Applications must be submitted online by July 19, 2026.
The exhibition will be on display at the Bermuda National Gallery from November 2026 through Spring 2027.

2024 Junior Bermuda Biennial.
This year, we are thrilled to welcome back 2024’s juror Molly Bretton. She is the Director of Outside In, a UK-based organization providing a platform for artists who encounter significant barriers to the art world due to health, disability, social circumstance, or isolation.
In her previous role as Head of Learning at the Royal Academy of Arts (RA) in London, Molly was instrumental in establishing the RA’s Young Artists Summer Show, an open submission exhibition for UK students. Now in its eighth year, it serves to champion the importance of art in education, celebrate teachers fostering creativity in children, and showcase the breadth and quality of work being produced by young people across the country.
In 2017, Molly won a Marsh Award for Excellence in Gallery Education for her work in accessible and inclusive arts education.

2024 Junior Bermuda Biennial.
Artworks will be selected holistically based on originality, unique imagination and technical skill.
We are looking for a wide variety of artworks. These can be in any medium – drawing, painting, printmaking, photography, video, textiles, digital art, sculpture, or a combination of mediums.
We want to see your own imagination, not other people’s. Try to avoid recognisable characters such as those in comic books, films or cartoons.
There is no set theme and there is no size limit.
Please note, not all submitted artworks will be selected for the final exhibition. If your work is not selected, do not be discouraged – be proud of yourself for applying, and keep making art!

The exhibition is an open call, and applications are open to all Bermudians aged 5 to 17, residing in Bermuda or living overseas.
Applications are also open to foreign nationals aged 5 to 17 currently resident on island.
Artists can submit up to 3 artworks.
Artists can apply as individuals or in collaboration.
There is no application fee.

Artists are invited to submit up to three artworks made in the two years prior to the application deadline (July 2024 – July 2026).
Artworks should be submitted digitally and will be reviewed this way, so it is really important to get a good photograph! See application guidelines for tips on how to photograph your artwork.
Applications should be made online by July 19, 2026.
If works are selected for the exhibition, they should be delivered unframed.

2024 Junior Bermuda Biennial.
The Junior Bermuda Biennial showcases the next generation of Bermuda’s most exciting artists.
Those selected for the exhibition will have their work displayed at the Bermuda National Gallery and included in the accompanying exhibition catalogue.
Selected artists will also be given a complimentary BNG Family Membership and will be invited to attend the opening reception in November.

Thursday, October 8 – Friday, October 9 Selected artworks to be dropped off at the Gallery between 9am and 5pm.
Saturday, November 7 Preview reception for exhibiting artists and BNG members.
Tuesday, November 10 The 2026 Junior Bermuda Biennial opens to the public and runs through to Spring 2027.
