Junior Bermuda Biennial

An Open Call for Artists Aged 5 to 17

We are excited to announce the launch of the Junior Bermuda Biennial – a new addition to the Bermuda Biennial, which will become a key component to every Biennial going forward.

The Junior Bermuda Biennial provides our youngest artists with a national platform and encourages them to push the boundaries of their creativity. It is a free, open submission, internationally juried exhibition which showcases the next generation of artists (age 5 to 17).

We are delighted to welcome Molly Bretton, Head of Learning at the Royal Academy of Arts (RA) in London, as the inaugural juror of the Junior Bermuda Biennial. Molly, who was instrumental in establishing the RA’s Young Artists Summer Show, will select the artworks to be included in the exhibition.

Artworks will be selected based on originality, unique imagination and technical skill. We are looking for a wide variety of artwork. This can be in any medium – from painting to drawing, printing, photography, film, textiles or sculpture, or a combination of mediums. There is no set theme and there is no size limit.

Applications are open to all Bermudians aged 5 to 17, residing in Bermuda or living overseas, as well as foreign nationals within the same age group who have been living on the island for at least 6 months or more.

Applications must be submitted online between September 14th and September 29th, 2024. Click here for further information.

The 2024 Junior Bermuda Biennial will be on display in the Hereward T. Watlington Room from November 2024 through to March 2025.
