Charcoal and acrylic paint on board

60 x 38 in.

Working with charcoal, in a way, mirrors how history lives in the body: dark, messy and impossible to fully erase. Each mark becomes an act of remembrance, giving form to stories that were silenced. Artmaking allows me to process grief, honour my ancestors, and invite viewers to reflect on their own inherited histories, asking how land, loss and memory continue to shape who we become long after the past seems to have finished speaking.
