Christina Hutchings was born in Bermuda. She lived in NYC from 1985-2008 working for architectural firms Peter Marino Architects and Skidmore Owings and Merrill. While in New York, she continued her painting practice and received fellowships at The MacDowell Colony, Edward Albee Foundation and Skowhegan.

Hutchings returned to Bermuda to focus on her art practice 2008. Recent group exhibitions include Testing Boundaries: In the Studio with Nancy Valentine and Christina Hutchings (BNG, 2022), Illusion & Abstraction: Capturing the Landscape (BNG, 2021)and Exhibition of Skowhegan Alumni (Dorsky Gallery, Long Island City, NY, 2019).

She says: “The inspiration for these pieces is drawn from art and life. The vocabulary of my work makes references to contemporary art and architecture; the subject matter is autobiographical. Surrealism and Constructivism, both in a very general sense, are influences. Five Lines of Thought expresses thought as a material line and How High the Moon is a continuation of the Bermuda night sky series.”
