Jane is the first print in an ongoing linocut print series on Bermuda history, memory and myth. Jane Hopkins was one of the last women to be hanged under witchcraft charges in Bermuda. She and Elizabeth Page were accused of witchcraft on the Mayflower’s voyage from England to Virginia in 1655. The trial, held in Bermuda, acquitted Page, whilst Hopkins was found guilty and executed two days later. Jane is a re-imagining of their last moments together beyond death, fear, violence and misogyny.
