I photographed Mr E. Michael Jones, the St George’s Town Crier, in 2024, using Fuji FP-100B instant film and a Polaroid 420 Automatic Land camera. I specifically chose to use a discontinued film stock in St George’s, which is one of the oldest continuously inhabited towns in the Atlantic world, as a way of bringing older technologies into dialogue with a long-standing living tradition. The work explores how memory is carried forward through practices that remain visible and active within a contemporary place.
