Assemblage with Jon Legere
On Tuesday, August 20 from 5:30-7:30pm at Bermuda National Gallery, join Bermudian artist Jon Legere as he hosts a two-hour assemblage workshop.
Assemblage is an artistic technique that involves creating a work of art by assembling various found objects or materials together. These objects can be anything from everyday items like bottles, buttons, and fabrics to more unconventional materials like driftwood, metal scraps, or discarded electronic parts. The artist arranges and combines these materials to create a three-dimensional composition, often with a focus on texture, color, and shape. Assemblage allows for a wide range of creative possibilities and encourages the transformation of ordinary objects into something meaningful and visually compelling.
Legere’s prowess at creating 3D art is visible in his 2024 Bermuda Biennial Guardian Jugs. Based in New York, Legere has exhibited his work in galleries globally, and is a six-time Bermuda Biennial artist.
The cost of the workshop is $60 for BNG members and $75 for non-members. All materials will be provided, but attendees are encouraged to bring their own items from home such as empty bottles, retired toys and any other items the owner is ready to part with for a more personal approach. Limited to 15 spaces. Ages 16+ welcome.
