Botanical Prints with Johanna Flath

On Saturday, August 17  from 2:00pm – 4:00pm at Bermuda National Gallery, join Bermudian artist Johanna Flath as she hosts a two-hour Botanical Print workshop.

This workshop explores Johanna Flath’s unique technique of creating art with botanical materials. This method, featured in her three 2024 Bermuda Biennial pieces—Vesper, Virgo, and Gloaming—involves printing plants directly onto paper to create fossilized imprints, which she then draws into, coaxing out color and form to highlight the delicate beauty of these natural structures.

Born and raised in Bermuda, Johanna Flath was deeply inspired by the island’s natural beauty and excellent art teachers, which led her to pursue a career in the arts. She holds a BFA in Painting from the Rhode Island School of Design and currently lives in Maine, where she works as a high school art teacher. Her art has been exhibited in numerous galleries, including solo shows at Masterworks Gallery and the Bermuda Society of the Arts.

The cost of the workshop is $60 for BNG members and $75 for non-members. All materials will be provided. Limited to 15 spaces. Ages 8+ welcome.
