Kinesis

A Catherine Lapsley Project

Kinesis is a project by Bermudian artist Catherine Lapsley, in which she expands, experiments and explores one of her signature paintings into an immersive installation.

Using color and structure, Catherine Lapsley’s paintings have a distinct visual style. She has developed an approach that can deconstruct the world around us, construct new or imagined worlds, or do both on the same canvas.

Lapsley has exhibited her work in numerous exhibitions including the 2014 and 2022 Bermuda Biennials and Illusion & Abstraction: Capturing the Landscape at the Bermuda National Gallery (2020). Her work is held in both private and public collections, including the Hamilton Princess Hotel & Beach Club and Butterfield.

The installation of Kinesis – on view while in progress – begins at the end of May and will take approximately three weeks to complete.

Kinesis by Catherine Lapsley will be on display in the BNG Project Space from May 29 through to the end of September.
