International Women’s Day

The Art of You

To celebrate International Women’s Day on March 8, we held an exclusive day of communion and connection for The Art of You community at the Bermuda National Gallery.

The day began with an artist led tour of I Am Because You Are. Gherdai Hassell led the group through an intimate look at her first solo exhibition, in which she examines the lasting impacts of slavery through a series of striking portraits, poetry and installation inspired by historic photographs in the Bermuda Archives.

This was followed by a yoga and meditation session in the elegant surroundings of the Young Gallery with spoken word artist and yoga teacher Tiffany Paynter. Tiffany, who is a two-time Bermuda Biennial artist, studied at the International Sivananda School and is a co-founder of the Peace Within Prison Yoga Programme which teaches yoga to incarcerated men and women.
