Celebrating Bermuda’s Young Talent

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the inaugural Junior Bermuda Biennial Opening this past weekend! With over 250 attendees, the evening was alive with creativity, community, and celebration as we unveiled Bermuda National Gallery’s newest addition to our flagship exhibition.

Like its adult counterpart, the Junior Bermuda Biennial provides a national platform for our island’s youngest artists, aged 5 to 17, encouraging them to push the boundaries of their creativity. This year’s exhibition was juried by Molly Bretton, Head of Learning at the Royal Academy of Arts (RA) in London. Out of over 600 submissions, 83 artworks were selected for their originality, imagination, and technical skill.

Guests enjoyed vibrant mocktails like “Biennial Blue” and “Golden Gallery,” lively music by young Bermudian musician Serilina Fisher, and a hands-on cookie decorating station by Cookies & Co. It was a joy to see the young artists celebrated alongside their families, friends, and supporters.

The Junior Bermuda Biennial is on display in the Hereward T. Watlington Room through March, showcasing a variety of mediums including painting, photography, sculpture, and video. This exhibition is generously sponsored by Gary L. Phillips, OBE, in honour of his late wife Patricia Ann Phillips, with additional support from Skyport, One Communications, and the Hamilton Princess Hotel & Beach Club.
