Dr Charles Zuill
Last Saturday, twelve-time Bermuda Biennial artist and Founding BNG Trustee Dr Charles Zuill led a workshop on metalpoint drawing in the gallery.
Charles, who is Bermuda’s only contemporary silverpoint artist, took participants through the process in which metalpoint drawings are made by dragging a silver rod or wire across a surface, prepared with gesso, depositing a thin layer of metal on the surface.
A sensitive and delicate medium, metalpoint is remarkable for creating drawings with fine lines and subtle shading. Participants learnt basic techniques and explored the possibilities of the medium by using a variety of tools, including coins and a wire brush.
Participants took home a silverpoint stylus, to continue their metalpoint journey.
We have a number of artist-led workshops coming up this summer. Click here for more information.
