Abi Box recently gave BNG Contributing Members an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of her artist studio.
Based in Somerset on the western edge of the island, the studio leads out onto a dock facing the harbour, where Abi often paints and which she credits with imbuing her work with a lighter, brighter and more abstract approach than she has taken previously.
The artist, whose work is currently on display in Illusion & Abstraction: Capturing the Landscape, gave members an intimate look at her process, talking them through a series of emotive landscapes inspired by the blinding light that pours in from the windows of the waterfront property, from early sketches to large-scale paintings and experiments with monotype printing.
