Thursday, April 27, reception at 5.30pm, followed by talk at 6pm
Tickets $35 for BNG members, $50 for non-members

On May 6th 2023, Charles III will be crowned at Westminster Abbey. Upon his accession, the king inherited one of the most significant art collections in the world. This lecture seeks to provide an overview of the breadth and depth of the collection, highlighting in particular the patronage of Charles I, Charles II and of the new king, who as Prince of Wales served as Chairman of the Royal Collection and is a talented watercolourist in his own right.

Wolf Burchard is Associate Curator at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, responsible for the museum’s British Galleries. He was Curatorial Assistant at the Royal Collection from 2009 to 2014 and co-curated the exhibition The First Georgians: Art and Monarchy, 1714-1760, shown at The Queen’s Gallery, Buckingham Palace in 2014.
